Case Study #2 – Creative System in Boston Design 2015

Steve Collotta of Creative System, one of my first and oldest clients, contracted me to photograph an outdoor project that incorporated a high-quality 130″ LED TV that was designed to rise from the floor of a pool house. The images were to be featured in Boston Design 2015. New England weather and construction delays pushed us to the wire. Steve and I know with a little luck we would make the deadline, all the while capturing the required and visually exciting images. Here is how the shoot went with the fine help of the home owner:

When we arrived we found that the sun light was too strong to capture the full intensity of the TV.

So it was time to review the other requested areas to shoot, which include the side patio and it’s media:

Here we need to pick the appropriate monitor image plus get the flame to work best:

We were also given the task to get a good banner shot for future use on a web site:

Light was still not quite right to shoot the pool shot so we went inside:

First stop was the basement fitness room.

Showing the integration through a phone app:

Next it was off to the living room:

Highlighting the feature that the hidden TV comes up out of cabinet:

Last interior was to capture the TV that elevates out of the kitchen counter top:

Now the light was correct out back by the pool. Next was to find what image to use on the screen and what angle would work best.

Is it to be a horizontal or vertical…if vertical (used for magazine covers) make sure there is plenty of room for text.

Once the final image was captured, it was time to capture the functionality of the system:

The magazine dead line, was, as so often the case, yesterday..so we processed the image that night after the shoot and delivered them electronically to be added to the publication the next morning.

It was fun to work with Steve again. He and I started our business about the same time, almost across the street from each other in Ashland. We both have proudly made in it Mass. Thank you Steve.
